9 month old not sleeping

I’ve always been a bit skeptical of sleep training – my son is almost ten months old and I thought we didn’t need it. But really we were in survival mode, happy that we could sleep with him only waking up once or twice a night and sleeping through others. I got to the point where I wondered if there was more to life – could he possibly be more consistent in sleeping through the night? Also, a stint in the hospital had messed some things up, and he wasn’t sleeping as well as usual. Anna laid out a basic plan for us – very straight forward but nothing too draconian. The thing I liked the best is she provided guidance for what to do when things don’t go according to plan. I could see the difference immediately. My baby quickly learned to self-soothe and instead of spending 40 minutes in the middle of the night trying to put him back to sleep, he has slept through the night 90% of the time over the past two weeks. We are still working on consistent wake up times and naps with Anna, but I’m confident we will get there. I can’t wait! — Oriana, Washington, D.C.

Early morning wakings (10 month old)

I’m hugely grateful to Anna of Sweet Dreamz Baby for helping us with our baby’s sleep issue! When I contacted Anna, our little guy was waking up way too early, playing for 30 minutes or so, and then dissolving into exhausted tears. I felt like crying myself and was at a total loss how to fix things. Nothing I’d tried had worked, and I was admittedly skeptical there was anything Anna could do either. But she sent me a sleep plan aimed at addressing his issue (and including some helpful general information on sleep as well) and … it worked! Not all at once, of course — there were a few rough days in there while we implemented her suggestions — but I’m pleased to report the baby no longer thinks 5 am is an appropriate time to get up! He sleeps until a much more reasonable hour and is a much, much happier baby upon waking. — Kathleen, Washington, DC.
